On Thursday, NDA's presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu defeated UPA's Yashwant Sinha after crossing the 50% voting mark.

Draupadi Murmu was the BJP-led NDA's presidential candidate, defeating UPA candidate Yashwant Sinha on Thursday.

Although Draupadi Ji's victory was almost certain since the names of both the candidates were declared, BJP had left no stone unturned to bring Draupadi Ji closer to victory.


Manoj Muntashir, a famous Hindi Lyricist, wrote congratulated Draupadi Ji on her victory.


Draupadi Murmu, who started her career as a school teacher at Sri Aurobindo Integral Education and Research Institute in Odisha, joined the BJP in 1997.

Before being the first woman tribal president, she has also been the first woman governor of Jharkhand.


She was also the Minister of State with Independent Charge for Commerce and Transportation from March 6, 2000, to August 6, 2002, and Fisheries and Animal Resources Development from August 6, 2002, to May 16, 2004.



Murmu secured a comfortable majority in the 2022 Presidential election defeating common opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha with 676,803 electoral votes (64.03% of the total) in 21 of the 28 states (including the union territory of Puducherry) to become the 15th President of India.

She will take the oath of office in the Central Hall of Parliament by the Chief Justice of India, Mr. NV Ramana.
